A Uist cat lover plans to part with her hair next month to raise funds for Uist Cat Rescue.

Lorraine Van Geel will have her hair shaved off at the Uist Highland Games on Wednesday, July 17.

Lorraine says she is doing the sponsored head shave to help the cat charity deal with the feral cats in Uist and Barra by having them neutered and found homes.

Lorraine, on her GoFundMe appeal page, comments that Uist Cat Rescue has struggled with funding every year.

“The cats and kittens keep on coming despite the ongoing capture of them, but without funding, we will not be able to keep this going with the food prices, vet prices and with not having a big population on the island…I myself love all animals but cats have always stolen my heart, so if you can see it in your hearts to sponsor me with just a little or as much as you can, the pussy cats and us here on the island would be very grateful,” explains Lorraine.
