An inter-island football training event is being staged by the Young Islanders Network in July to give girls aged 12 to 18 years a taste of women’s football.

The free event at Back Football Club’s indoor pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5. Young Islanders Network champion Maimie will lead the day.

Places are limited and must be booked via Eventbrite on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those travelling to Lewis from other islands can contact Young Islanders Network senior development worker Naomi Macdonald if they require support with travel and accommodation. Assistance may be available, but this will be discussed individually.

The day-long event will see participants receive coaching from local female athletes. There will also be the opportunity to join as a group for some evening activities.
