Images created by school pupils with pinhole cameras made from discarded items will be displayed this weekend in Taigh Chearsabhagh’s café.

With the help of artist Tara Drummie and assisted by Nicola Neate, the pupils from Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath learnt how to upcycle materials to construct pinhole cameras.

Their images and handiwork now form Through the Pinhole, which will be exhibited in the arts centre cafe from Saturday, February 4.

The sixteen P4 to P6 pupils enjoyed a fun image-making workshop, constructing rudimentary cameras using upcycled materials, from empty drink cans to discarded cardboard packaging.

Exploring photography’s theory and practice, the pupils calculated their exposure times and considered their compositions before capturing their photographs in the playground.

The exhibition features work from Seumas Black, Eva Fountain, Eilah MacDonald, Jonathan MacDonald, Rebecca MacDonald, Lottie MacLean, Tom Òg Marks, DJ Monk, Orla Morrison, Seonaidh Morrison, Dani Nicholson, Freya Nicholson, Johan Prior-Pitt, Annaleise Robertson, Kelsey Robertson and Guthrie Wheeler.

The exhibition is free and open to all from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday to Saturday, in the Café in Taigh Chearsabhagh.
