A Met Office yellow alert for strong winds has been updated this morning (Monday 30 January) to show a greater likelihood of less severe winds, over a longer time, than previously expected.
But the Western Isles, and especially the Isle of Lewis, are still in line for gusts of up to 80mph for a time between 8pm on Tuesday night and 12 noon on Wednesday.
Ferry services are now planning for a stormy period, with services between Castlebay and Oban, and between Stornoway and Ullapool, cancelled for tomorrow.
