A Requiem Mass for renowned South Uist piper William MacKillop is to be celebrated in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, on Friday, February 10.

The service will take place in the town’s Holy Spirit Church at 9.15 am.

Better known as Willie MacKillop, he died at the age of 90 on January 12.

A collection in aid of the Royal British Legion is to be taken at the Mass.

Willie was the husband of the late Katie Mary, father of John, Margaret and Jane, father-in-law to Wayne and Helen and grandfather to Aidan and Owen and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
