If you are at a loose end tomorrow (Saturday May 21) you may wish to lend a hand to help RSPB Loch Druidibeg make the footing a little easier.

The South Uist nature reserve is holding a Volunteer Day to give the trails a makeover for the season ahead.

The type of work required varies from path surfacing to bridge painting and rhododendron removal. The charity provides all tools.

There are two sessions; one in the morning between 10 and 12 noon, and the other from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Volunteers are asked to assemble at the starting time at the reserve’s car park and work on the south side of the road to Loch Sgioport.
