An Lanntair Cinema is set to again welcome film fans as their cinema programme restarts on Friday October 2nd – with reduced seating capacity and adherence to social distance and government guidelines ensuring a safe experience for all.
“We’re opening again and giving everyone the opportunity to see the major award-winning films we couldn’t show before the lockdown,” says Kevin Smith, An Lanntair Cinema Programmer, adding: “Of course, with the introduction of cinema’s reopening, certain procedures have had to be instigated to ensure a safe environment for everyone coming into our auditorium.”
As such, An Lanntair would prefer that customers use our online booking system when purchasing cinema tickets, which has safeguards in place to enable social-distanced seat selection.
"We are following Scottish Government guidelines for our cinema bookings, which at present allow groups of up to two households and no more than six people, all adults and children over 12 in the group must be from the same household. When booking, you will need to provide your contact details for Test and Protect; and our Cinema Stewards will not ask you for a physical ticket for entry, instead will ask for names and order numbers.
"Between cinema screenings, An Lanntair’s auditorium will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly with an antibacterial-fogger used to sterilise all seats and contact areas. Hand-sanitiser stations are also available for public use throughout the building.
"We do ask cinema-goers to observe 2m distancing; wear facemasks at all times, unless eating/drinking, under-5, or medically unable to do so; and that no outside food or drink be brought into the building.
"Cinema snacks and drinks will be available to purchase from the ground floor shop, and coffees and pre-screening meals from the Café Bar on the first floor. Cinema entrance remains the same, through the first-floor auditorium doors."

So, what’s in store for film fans at An Lanntair this October? Kevin expands: “The film industry releases are in a state of flux at the moment, but we are committed to ensuring that you get a wide variety of choice throughout the month.
“From blockbusters, art house, classics and even ‘as live’ screenings, which have become more popular that ever during the time of lockdown, we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy a night out at the pictures.”
Screenings taking place in October include Academy Award and BAFTA winner Parasite, along with The Lighthouse, Tenet, Schemers, New Mutants, and Bill & Ted Face the Music.
For youngers audiences we’re delighted to screen Sonic the Hedgehog and Trolls World Tour; and enjoyable at all ages, our ‘as-live’ screening offers the chance to see Alife Boe and Michael Ball: Back Together.
And An Lanntair Cinema celebrates Halloween with an extra special Fright Night: Halloween Horror Double Bill, as Kevin adds: “For only £10 we’ll be showing two classic horror films that will please even the most ardent horror lover!
“From Wes Craven, the Masters of Horror himself, we will be screening the original A Nightmare on Elm Street. The film that catapulted Freddy Krueger into the echelon of movie villains and terrified a generation every time they went to sleep.
“Then before our second film we’ll show some trailers from classic horror films to get everyone in the mood for the comedy horror The Return of the Living Dead, the film that gave us so much of the zombie tropes that are still used in films today.”
