Stornoway RNLI Lifeboat launched today (Monday 19th) at 1420 hrs after Stornoway Coastguard received a call from a vessel with two persons on board which was suffering engine problems off the Butt of Lewis.

The Ness, Bragar and Breasclete Coastguard Rescue Teams were also tasked to keep watch on the vessel from the shore until the Lifeboat arrived on scene at 1530 hrs, a little over an hour after launch, established a tow line with the stricken vessel and proceeded to tow the casualty to Stornoway Harbour, arriving back at 2100 hours.

The ‘Tom Sanderson’ RNLI lifeboat was refuelled and ready for service at 2215 hours.
