Stornoway Half Marathon takes place during this morning (Saturday 26th May).
A temporary road closure order will be in effect between approximately 1000 and 1015 hours on this date, and applicable to Cromwell Street, Bayhead, Matheson Road, Sandwick Road and James Street (see road closure link below for map).
The route continues through Shell Street, Newton Street, Seaview Terrace, Millar Road, Lower Sandwick, North Street, Steinish, Simons Road, Redburn, Ivorhill, Constable Road, Moss End, Oliver's Brae, Smith Avenue, Anderson Road, Perceval Road, Macaulay Road, Canada Crescent and Willowglen Road.
After completing the Castle Grounds route, runners will return to the pavements at Porter's Lodge, on to Bayhead and Cromwell Street. (Refer to route map).
Motorists and other road users are asked: "Please be aware of the likelihood of short periods of delay and disruption to traffic in the area of the road closure, and be mindful of the route if you are driving in the areas listed above.
"Please respect the event marshals, reduce your speed accordingly should you encounter any runners, and give way to them when required."
